Admitting Representative – Walk-In Center

8 hrs./wk. every weekend 10:00 AM - 2:00  PM , including rotating holidays.  Responsible for Registering Walk-In Center patients.  Will verify all demographic information as well as obtaining insurance information and verifying insurances via various websites; Responsible for opening, closing and balancing of the cash drawer and for the collection of co-payments.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment.  Requirements:  Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented and an independent worker, able to multi-task and have computer and internet usage skills.   Insurance experience is required.  Meditech experience and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

 

Admitting Representative

Will be responsible for Registering patients for ER, Private Referral, Direct Admission and ER Admission. Will follow through on all daily inpatient functions; verify all demographic information as well as insurance information through various insurance websites; pre-registration for all elective procedures and obtain pre-certifications.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with attention to detail; must be able to multi-task.  Insurance experience required; Meditech experience a plus.

BILLER/ANALYST

40 hrs./wk. 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.  In this role, candidate will prepare billing statements and claim forms to insurance Payers and/or patients.  The key function of this position is to monitor submissions for prompt payment from all Payers to ensure maximization of revenues.  The successful Analyst will review and analyze medical charts for proper CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding for submission to various carriers.  Will reserch rejected or suspended claims for re-submission and payment.  Requirements:  Minimum of 2 years of healthcare and medical billing or collections exp. required.  Experience with medical Billing in a hospital or an acute care health facility is preferred.  Must have thorough knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding and medical terminology with thorough knowledge of insurance requlations, (government and/or commercial) and medical billing procedures and reimbursement forms.  Computer literacy required.  Experience with Meditech EMR a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft, Excel and Word. Candidate must posses a High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate from a formal billing or accounts receivable training program, AS degree, CPAT or CPAM certification preferred, or equivalent work experience. 

Case Manager

Per Diem Case Manager to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of weekly hours worked/no benefits with this position.  Will be responsible for providing verbal and written explanation of observation to all observation status admissions within 24 hours of admission.  Will also be responsible for facilitating appropriate level of care assignment and discharge planning in the Emergency Department.  Also, ensure that anticipated discharges on the Medical Surgical units occur.  Qualifications:  RN with a BSN and Connecticut State License, as well as 3-5 years of Case Management experience.  Knowledge of Milliman Care Guidelines preferred; Utilization Review and Discharge Planning experience in an acute hospital care setting; knowledge of Medicare guidelines; computer skills required. 

Certified Nursing Assistant

Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and nursing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient based on a fundamental knowledge and utilization of the nursing process and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.  Qualifications:  Must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program; State of Connecticut Certification is required. Prior acute care experience preferred. Skills:  BLS; basic computer skills including the ability to enter information pertaining to patient care per hospital policy.  Familiarity in working in Windows environment; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated working knowledge of a computerized medical information management system; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image; good written and verbal communication skills required.

Certified Surgical Technician - OR

40 hrs./wk., flexible schedule Monday - Friday according to the Dept. needs, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, On-Call rotation for weekdays, weekends and holidays is required. The Surgical Technologist is an individual with specialized education who functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.  He / she handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.  Will have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.  Will have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  Surgical Technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.  Qualifications: Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist, a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program;  at least 2 years of prior experience is preferred; current  BLS Certification required.

Coder (Inpatient)

40 hrs./wk. Miminum 2 years progressive coding or coding review experience in inpatient coding with claims processing and/or data management responisbilities.  Strong ICD-10 and PCS coding skills and understanding of coding ethics and compliance.  Strong computer PC/skills.

Coder (Outpatient)

Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures on all outpatient discharges, assigning appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to each, and for verifying and maintaining the accuracy of the abstracted clinical and financial data. This position is responsible for correct and compliant coding and abstracting for outpatient records in an acute care Hospital environment.  Requirements:  CPC/CCS, including ICD-10 certification required.  Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 CM, modifiers and E&M coding.  Knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, charging and billing required.  At least 2-3 years of hospital outpatient coding experience preferabely with a concentration in Ambulatory Surgeries.  Knowledge of 3M and Meditech applications preferred.  Comprehensive and working knowledge of DRG and APC classification systems.

Cook

Will prepare food for all patients and customers in a clean environment practicing safe food handling; will read recipes, takes inventory and places food orders. Must have "Serve-Safe" Certification  within 6 months of hire.  Must have a minimum of one year Nursing Home or Hospital Cooking experience.  Prior Restaurant / Healthcare / Clinical food service experience preferred. Must be familiar with HACCP. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and withstand extended periods of standing and walking.

Food Service Worker

Food Services Supervisor

12.5 hrs./wk. every other weekend plus 4 hrs. during the week - this is a floating scheduled. Supervises all aspects of the Dept.; audits, checks and manages staff functions to ensure proper meal service; relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals; completes administrative work (i.e. inventory, schedules); maintains a clean, sanitary environment for patients, visitors and staff.  Requirements: HS graduate with good communication/customer service skills a must with the ability to speak, understand and write English; Food Safety Certification; good working knowledge of commercial food service; requires familiarity with Nutrition Diet Modifications; must be able to program software and operate Tablet for Health Touch Patient Meal Ordering system.

Floor Refinisher / Service Aide

Duties include general cleaning, sweeping, mopping of floors, shampooing carpets, buffing, stripping & waxing floors, climbing ladders, bending and lifting up to 50lbs.  Prior floor care experience required

40 hrs./wk., Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM including weekends as needed; rotating holidays.

HISTOLOGY TECHNICIAN

Per Diem position.  To cover hours as needed in the Department.  No guarantee of hours worked, no benefits.   Will prepare tissue specimens, fine needle aspirations, embedding, cutting, staining and slide preparation of surgical tissue for diagnosis.  Performs secretarial and other duties as directed by the Histology Supervisor and the Pathologist.   Requirements:  At least 60 semester hours of academic credit with 12 semester hours in both Biology and Chemistry required.  Knowledge of histology techniques and procedures; minimum of one year experience in a CAP accredited laboratory required.  Meditech Pathology Module exp.; Histologist Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred. 

Imaging Information Specialist/Radiology Records Associate

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of weekly hours worked / no benefits with this position.   Will provide skilled office support to Radiologists  and Technologist with heavy phone interaction;  will burn imaging on CD's along with document scanning; will perform Quality Assessment on report, pull/file patient film; patient registration, order entry, insurance verification and collection of co-pay's.  Will utilize a network of computerized systems including Meditech, Powerscribe and Stentor; will provide quality service to patients, physicians and techs.  Requirements:  High School graduate or equivalent with experience in an Imaging Office or similar medical setting; medical terminology / imaging procedure terminology with excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Medical Lab Tech / Medical Technologist

Will perform various technical duties in the Laboratory.  Operates both automated and manual testing instrumentation.  Evaluates quality control and verifies all patient results prior to release.  Contacts physicians to report critical results in accordance with laboratory policy; performs various computer operations in Meditech computer system, including patient registration / order entry, automated and manual result entry, quality control entry and patient result reporting.  In addition collects blood specimens in all areas of the hospital and Milford Medical Laboratory if required.  Requirements:  2 yr. or 4 yr. degree in medical technology or biology; clinical laboratory experience required.  Demonstrated technical proficiency in the Microbiology section of the Lab; experience with automated and manual instrumentation; experience and knowledge relating to collection of blood specimens from patients of all ages; keyboarding skills relating to Meditech computer system; unless indicated all responsibilites are essential functions of the position.

MRI TECHNOLOGIST

 Performs all MRI Imaging exams and procedures in a hospital environment.  Ability to independently operate MRI scanner in a safe and effective  manner while providing optimal patient care.  Prefer a minimum of 6 months MRI experience; successful completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; minimum of 2 years diagnotic radiology experience, preferably in a hospital setting; current ARRT and State License; MRI Registry (required within 18 months of hire or 18 months of initial training date); BLS certification.

MML INSURANCE BILLER

40 hrs./wk. Monday - Friday 7:00 AM -3:30 PM. Enters patient registration data and patient charges in the Medical Manager Billing System.  Performs billing follow-up and correction activities as directed. Post charges and produces monthly reports for the Milford Hospital A/R Department as needed. Assists MML Billing Supervisor. Performs billing activities associated with nursing homes. Acts as liaison with nursing home billing representatives when required. Assists in preparation for Medicare Part-A (Special Billing) monthly invoices to nursing homes. Receives patients and accurately enters patient test orders, demonographics and billing information from various requisitions into the Meditech Information System if required. Is a competent operator of required computer hardware and software. Performs other activities related to the smooth flow of patients, patient information, patient specimens and billing reports. Answers telephone for billing questions and performs other clerical duties as required. Requirements: Experience and knowledge related to automatic medical billing operations; PC skills related to Meditech and Medical Manager Information Systems; familiarity with reimbursement and refunds through Medical Manager Billing System; demonstrated excellent attention to detail required in processing patient billing information and general telephone and clerical skills. Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Per Diem position available.  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position.   Prepares, administers and measures radioactive isotopes in diagnostic and tracer studies utilizing a variety of radioisotope equipment.  Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses to be administered to patients by a Nuclear Medicine Technologist;  subjects patients to radiation.  Minimum of 3 years experience preferred; CNMT and/or RTN mandatory; if holds an active R.T.R,. a current CT License is also required;  CPR cetification and ACLS preferred.

OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT

Under the direction of the RN, assists the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of the environment, stocking rooms, picking cases, transportation of patients, supplies/equipment, specimens and blood products to, from and within the surgical unit. Must be a High School graduate; preferable a graduate of an Operating Room Assistant program, Surgical Technician program, or a C.N.A. Must be knowledgeable regarding basic medical terminology, be able to identify many pieces of equipment used in the OR, be able to differentiate sterile from unsterile. Must successfully complete an orientation program in the Perioperative Services Dept. Must be able to take call independently on weekend; BLS with previous OR exp. preferred.

Pathology Secretary

Per diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of hours worked/no benefits with this position. Will provide secretarial services to the physicians and Laboratory Manager in the Dept. of Pathology, producing high quality patient reports for Surgical Pathology and Cytology using the Meditech Computer system.  Manages the department Quality Assurance program; generates statistical reports; submission and receipt of pathology consultation specimens and reports; responds to telephone inquiries, managing the communication between pathologist and attending physicians; performs other secretarial services as required by the Chief Pathologist, Lab Manager and Section Supervisors including, but not limited to, procedure typing and billing issue resolution.  Requirements:  General secretarial experience and knowledge relating to surgical pathology and cytopathology operations; keyboard skills relating to data entry, word processing and spreadsheet generation; pathology and cytology; ability to manage a pathology QA program and to generate required statistical reports.

Pharmacy Technician

16 hrs./wk. with a floating schedule; weekend and holiday rotation. Will assist the Pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use; mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aspeptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood; Omnicell; type's labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties.  Requirements:  High School Graduate or equivalent; One-year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of a certified training program/healthcare careers college.  Education in all age groups obtained with in school education, experience or subsequent training.  Appropriate certificates or licenses required for the position; IV admixture / clean room experience preferred.

Physician Assistant / APRN - Surgical

Primarily to provide first assist on a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular.  Also will have patient rounding and ED coverage responsibilities and call rotation.  A Connecticut PA or APRN and at least 1 year of surgical experience are required.  Experience in internal medicine is a plus.

Radiologic Technologist / Clinical Assistant- Walk-In Center

SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  Hours of coverage need on all shift, but mainly needed for 2nd shift  (4:00 PM - 12 midnight)  and 3rd shift  (12 midnight to 8:00 AM).  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position.  Prior office/telephone experience with previous switchboard experience a plus.

Ultrasonographer

Performs a variety of diverse duties in diagnostic medical sonography.   Performs ultrasound scans using real time, Doppler and color flow Doppler.   Assists physician in aspiration and biopsy procedures. Advanced knowledge of anatomy. Qualifications:  Must be a High School graduate or equivalent; Work requires sufficient education/training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RDCS); Registry eligible; one year completed formal ultraound training;  CPR certified.
