Admitting Representative – Walk-In Center

Responsible for Registering Walk-In Center patients.  Will verify all demographic information as well as obtaining insurance information and verifying insurances via various websites; Responsible for opening, closing and balancing of the cash drawer and for the collection of co-payments.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment.  Requirements:  Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented and an independent worker, able to multi-task and have computer and internet usage skills.   Insurance experience is required.  Meditech experience and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

10 hrs./wk. 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM every other weekend including rotating holidays.

8 hrs./wk. every weekend - 4 hrs each day (10:00 AM - 2 PM) including rotating holidays.

Admitting Representative

Will be responsible for registering patients for ER, Private Referral, Direct Admission and ER Admission. CT Scan Technologist

32 hrs./wk. - Sunday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM; Monday & Thursday 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM; every other Friday 3:30 PM-12:00 AM; every other Saturday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Will perform duties in the CT Dept. including scanning and procedures while providing optimal patient care. Ability to independently operate all CT equipment with adherence to policy and procedural protocols.  Qualifications:  Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program with advanced training in Computed Axial Tomography preferred; current ARRT and CT State License  or eligible; CT Certified or eligible and CPR Certification.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and nursing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient based on a fundamental knowledge and utilization of the nursing process and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.  Qualifications:  Must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program; State of Connecticut Certification is required. Prior acute care experience or long term experience 2 years or greater is strongly preferred. Skills:  BLS; basic computer skills including the ability to enter information pertaining to patient care per hospital policy.  Familiarity in working in Windows environment; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated working knowledge of a computerized medical information management system; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image; good written and verbal communication skills required.

Certified Surgical Technician - OR

The Surgical Technologist is an individual with specialized education who functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.  He / she handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.  Will have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.  Will have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  Surgical Technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.  QualificationsMust be a Certified Surgical Technologist, a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required; experience required; current  BLS certification required.

Coder (Inpatient)

40 hrs./wk. (will consider 24 hrs./wk. part time)  Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures on all Inpatient discharges, assigning appropriate ICD-10 and PCS codes to each and for verifiying and maintaining the accuracy of the abstracted clinical and financial data, in an acute care Hospital environment.  Accepts accountability for quality, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of inpatient coding and all abstraction and data entry to support all regulatory compliance, including core measures and hospital statistics.  Qualifications:  Formal HIM education with National Certification AHIMA-CCS, (RHIA, RHIT). Minimum 2 year's progressive coding or coding review experience in inpatient coding with claims processing and/or data management responsibilities.  Strong ICD-10 and PCS coding skills and understanding of coding ethics and compliance.  Strong computer PC/skills.

Coder (Outpatient)

Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures on all Outpatient discharges, assigning appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to each, and for verifying and maintaining the accuracy of the abstracted clinical and financial data. This position is responsible for correct and compliant coding and abstracting for outpatient records in an acute care Hospital environment.  Requirements:  CPC/CCS, including ICD-10 certification required.  Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 CM, modifiers and E&M coding.  Knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, charging and billing required.  At least 2-3 years of hospital outpatient coding experience preferably with a concentration in Ambulatory Surgeries.  Knowledge of 3M and Meditech applications preferred.  Comprehensive and working knowledge of DRG and APC classification systems.

Dietetic Technician

Dietetic Technician will ensure that patients receive optimal nourishment based on MD orders, medical specific needs and patients' personal preference. Candidates must demonstrate effective organizational skills to ensure the smooth functioning of dietary service by adhering to established standards for obtaining and processing patient meal selections.  Must be technologically savvy with the ability to utilize electronic diet office systems. An Associate's degree and Dietetic Technicians registration are required; candidates with a Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, allied health, or related field are welcome to apply.

Director - Diagnostic Imaging

Full time position.  Plans, directs and monitors operations, functions and resources of the Diagnostic Imaging Dept. at Milford Hospital.  This includes, but is not limited to, X-ray/Diagnostics, CT Scan, Interventional Radiology, Mammography, MRI, Echocardiography, Ultrasound, PET, Bone Density and Radiology Records.  Is responsible for day to day operations and strategic planning of the Department.  Also responsible for regulatory compliance.  requires a Bachelor of Science in Radiology, Clinical experience and at least 5 years of Management experience.  Advanced Certification in an advanced modality and Radioligy Technology Licensure in Connecticut.

Emergency Room Technician

Will demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient.  Facilitates timely, individualized care of assigned patient under the direction of the RN.  Works collaboratively with RN/MD staff in order to meet individualized needs of the patient.  Provides patient safety in a manner that prevents injury. Perform expected tasks routinely and proactively.  Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Qualifications:  EMT with State of CT Certification required; or must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program with a State of CT Certificate required; or nursing student in an RN program through first semester of year 1 with related experience.  Current BLS Certification;  knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity working in a Windows environment.  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.  Experience preferred.

Food Service Worker

Promotes meal assistance to all patients on a daily basis (includes meal selection, service and retrieval) Accurately serves food and beverages to patients in accordance with the patient's diet prescription. Provides highest quality of service to customers at all times. Position will also provide cafe' and utility coverage as needed. Prepares foods, sets up serving line, serves foods according to Quality Standards; breaks down, cleans and straightens serving areas and properly stores food all in a clean and sanitary manner; works in the dish room; stocks foods and supplies as needed.  High School graduate or equivalent (GED) -  Food Service experience is preferred;  Nursing Home or Hospital experience helpful.

Food Services Supervisor

12.5 hrs./wk. every other weekend plus 4 hrs. during the week - this is a floating scheduled. Imaging Information Specialist/Radiology Records Associate

Per Diem positions available to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of weekly hours worked / no benefits with these positions.   Will provide skilled office support to Radiologists  and Technologist with heavy phone interaction;  will burn imaging on CD's along with document scanning; will perform Quality Assessment on report, pull/file patient film; patient registration, order entry, insurance verification and collection of co-pay's.  Will utilize a network of computerized systems including Meditech, Powerscribe and Stentor; will provide quality service to patients, physicians and techs.  Requirements:  High School graduate or equivalent with experience in an Imaging Office or similar medical setting; medical terminology / imaging procedure terminology with excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Medical Lab Tech / Medical Technologist

Will perform various technical duties in the Laboratory.  Operates both automated and manual testing instrumentation.  Evaluates quality control and verifies all patient results prior to release.  Contacts physicians to report critical results in accordance with laboratory policy; performs various computer operations in Meditech computer system, including patient registration / order entry, automated and manual result entry, quality control entry and patient result reporting.  In addition collects blood specimens in all areas of the hospital and Milford Medical Laboratory if required.  Requirements:  2 yr. or 4 yr. degree in medical technology or biology; clinical laboratory experience required.  Demonstrated technical proficiency in the Microbiology section of the Lab; experience with automated and manual instrumentation; experience and knowledge relating to collection of blood specimens from patients of all ages; keyboarding skills relating to Meditech computer system; unless indicated all responsibilities are essential functions of the position.

MRI TECHNOLOGIST

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position. Performs all MRI Imaging exams and procedures in a hospital environment.  Ability to independently operate MRI scanner in a safe and effective manner while providing optimal patient care.  Prefer a minimum of 6 months MRI experience; successful completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; minimum of 2 years diagnostic radiology experience, preferably in a hospital setting; current ARRT and State License; MRI Registry (required within 18 months of hire or 18 months of initial training date); BLS certification.

Nurse Manager - M3W

Full time day position (#1082-17). The Manager has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient care administration and practice within a designated patient Care Unit - 24 hour responsibility in managing the human and material resources of a nursing unit.  Contributes to and supports the philosophy and objective of the Nursing Department and the hospital to effectuate quality patient care, staff development, and staff and patient satisfaction.  Provides house coverage on a rotating basis. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program; holds a current RN license in the State of Connecticut; current BLS certification; Master degree preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, or MPH); prior  experience in acute care, telemetry and management experience are required.

NURSING SUPERVISOR

Per Diem positions (#307PD-17; 1112-PD-17) are available to cover hours as needed within the Nursing Administration Dept. No guarantee of hours/no benefits with these positions. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the nursing care provided to patients, allocates and redistributes human and physical resources, assures patient safety, acts as resource person to staff, resolves problems for all hospital departments. Assures adequate staffing levels and mix for each nursing unit.  Qualifications: CT RN License.  BLS, ACLS required;  BSN or BS required; 5 years professional experience in acute care required.  1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred. 

Phlebotomist

Collects blood specimens at the Hospital, Milford Medical Lab, Patient Service Center’s (Out labs), Physician Office Collection Stations and Nursing Homes. Delivers specimens to the Laboratory.  Travels to nursing homes and remote collection stations as required. Registers patient in Meditech if required. Order-enters all requested patient testing. Receives all collected specimens into Meditech. Generates and processes Meditech Collection Batches at the appointed. Collects STAT’s; using the Meditech generated specimen labels.  Processes all specimens and requisitions, insuring that the documentation and the specimens are distributed as required.   Answers general Laboratory telephones and performs other clerical duties as required. Phlebotomy experience is required; valid CT driver's license with good driving history required.

Physician Assistant / APRN - Surgical

Primarily to provide first assist on a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular.  Also will have patient rounding and ED coverage responsibilities and call rotation.  A Connecticut PA or APRN and at least 1 year of surgical experience are required.  Experience in internal medicine is a plus.

Radiologic Technologist / Clinical Assistant- Walk-In Center

Will assess, manage and perform diagnostic evaluation in addition to administering respiratory therapy to improve, assist, control and restore breathing to the newborn through geriatric patient.  Dept. provides respiratory care on a 24/7 basis and staff members should anticipate working every other weekend and holiday as well as any shift as deemed necessary for Dept. needs.  Qualifications:  Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care, either a one year Technician program or a two year Therapist program.  Must be credentialied by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and licensed by the State of CT.  One year minimum experience required.

Service Aide/Float

Duties include general cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors; trash, linen and medical waste removal.  Must be able to climb ladders, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

40 hrs./wk. on the day shift.   Will provide physical therapy services to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes; provide prevention and wellness services, including screening and health promotion.  The physical therapist works within the practice guidelines as defined by Connecticut state law.  Requirements:  Bachelor degree in Physical Therapiy, with Master or Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy preferred. Current Physical Therapist license in Connecticut. Prior experience in an Acute Care environment preferred. Computer literacy, specific to clinical documentation is preferred.

Unit Secretary

Responsible for receptionist, secretarial and scheduling duties of the unit.  Functions as a focal communication link for the nursing unit.   Qualifications:  High School graduate; knowledge of medical terminology; one year previous secretarial experience preferred.  Skills include BLS, strong Excel and Word skills with familiarity working in a Windows environment, demonstrated working knowledge of computerized medical information and management system, positive interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively;  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

ECHOCARDIOGRAPHER

Performs a variety of non-invasive technical procedures in cardiac graphics utilizing high frequency sound waves to study movement and size of the various cardiac structures for the diagnosis of heart disorders. Experience/Education: Must be a High School Grad or equivalent; work requires sufficient education/training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RDCS); Registry eligible; one year completed formal ultraound training; CPR certified.
